DENSO TEN is searching for an entry level engineer to join us in Novi for a year on a contract basis, facilitated by a third-party agency.   DENSO TEN is also open to applications from engineering co-op students and interns seeking a year-long learning experience.

Specific Job Tasks for the open position:

This position focuses on manual validation for both bench and in-vehicle settings.

Bench testing includes:

  • Bench simulation and setup preparation (including hardware troubleshooting)
  • Simulation using equipment like CANoe, SG, etc.

In-vehicle evaluation includes:

  • Drive evaluation (using check sheets and random operation to find bugs)
  • Test vehicle preparation (including retrofitting and troubleshooting)
  • Expect to spend an average of 4-6 hours per day in a vehicle for in-vehicle testing.

When a bug is found, you will need to be able to isolate the issue for clear communication with other engineering groups through bug reports.

Other responsibilities may include testing:

  • Audio evaluation
  • Radio evaluation
  • Electrical evaluation
  • Function evaluation
  • VR/BT/HF/IOP evaluation

The position also requires:

  • Reading and understanding product specifications for evaluation
  • Test case creation and troubleshooting
  • Troubleshooting using multimeters and oscilloscopes along with product specifications like wire harness diagrams, block diagrams, and schematics

You will cover all aspects of evaluations, including:

  • Preparation
  • Test environment build
  • Troubleshooting analysis
  • Vehicle modifications
  • Creation and maintenance of bug reports/tickets in JIRA

Detailed-oriented qualities, strong problem-solving skills, and time management skills are required to maintain daily output and stay on target for completing all evaluations.

This job goes beyond just testing and creating test cases. You will also:

  • Compile and install version-up software
  • Regularly perform documentation, reporting, and analysis
  • Improve test scenarios
  • Set up labs and equipment

This is a fast-paced work environment, so multitasking is essential.

Required Skills and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in engineering, or Engineering Intern/Co-op with 2 years of college may be considered.
  • Experience in the OEM automotive field, specifically in electronics and vehicle infotainment knowledge is preferred.
  • Experience with JIRA, audio systems, Bluetooth, connectivity, navigation, product evaluation/testing, and hands-on knowledge of electrical debugging tools like oscilloscopes and voltmeters is preferred.
  • Clean driving record and ability to drive safely for testing is mandatory.
  • Ability to travel periodically for up to 2 weeks domestically and internationally is required.
  • Ability to read schematics/specifications, perform hardware troubleshooting, and conduct tests and measurements is essential.
  • Highly organized, meticulous, and methodical with strong problem-solving, time management, and risk-management skills.
  • Self-directed learner proficient in MS software (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to work with cross-cultural teams.

Position Summary/ Purpose 

Engineering validation for automotive infotainment systems. Responsibilities include schedule maintenance for S/W releases, tuning schedule, manual functional validation, data communication, and engineering administration. 

Key Job Duties:

  • Software release for internal and external usage.
  • Schedule maintenance for tuning, blitz, and equipment.
  • Issues/ ticket maintenance which include creation, tracking, and close out for Validation Team.
  • Creation of test cases and test plans for validation projects.
  • Program manage validation project with Validation Team, headquarters, and customers.
  • Perform validation such as functional tests on bench and field.
  • Prepare necessary documentation, material, and reports for customer engineering meetings.
  • Develop and maintain open issue list for customer engineering meetings.
  • Support project related meetings with the customer and author minutes from customer meetings.
  • Gain understanding of customer requirements/ requests to support Validation Team.
  • Test and support test procedures as new requirements are received.
  • Evaluate new software patches and evaluate all system impacts.
  • Evaluate/ analyze/ counter measure claims and issues during development and production of products.
  • Perform market research and product planning duties.
